Saloon coach 12

A royal couple never travels alone. In addition to the ladies-in-waiting and their escorts on the royal train, guests and the press often accompany them for state affairs. Therefore, the SR10 (the royal carriage for Beatrix and Claus) is accompanied by escort carriages.

Along with the SR10, the museum has been able to include the SR12 in its collection. Saloon coach 12 looks largely the same as a First Class Intercity (ICR) coach. Although the interior is identical, the exterior is different. The coach features colors that match the royal blue and yellow in which the royal couple’s carriage is finished.
