The underframe of this timber wagon dates back to 1866. It was originally a first-class coach. In 1913, Werkspoor fitted a new body, converting it into a luggage wagon. In the centre is a crew compartment with ‘bumpers’ for the side lookouts, and on either side there is a luggage compartment and 14 seats. From 1928, the Seinweizen department used it as a tool wagon.
When the wagon was taken out of service, it was in a very poor condition and virtually beyond restoration. It was then decided to preserve it in its current state so that the construction remains clearly visible. In the superstructure, a narrow window, a sliding door and part of another window are still recognisable. Ir. P.H. Bosboom, former director of NS, played a major role in preserving the luggage wagon. Hence its nickname: the Bosboomwagen (timber wagon).
