Dream tracks

Look up! With ‘Droomsporen’, the Railway Museum is literally bringing the ceiling of Maliebaan Station to life. Using video mapping, ‘Droomsporen’ vividly illustrates the various roles Maliebaan Station has played over the years. The projection lasts around 5 minutes and is shown continuously in the hall of Maliebaan Station.

Ceiling comes to life

Maliebaan Station, the historic entrance building of the Railway Museum, celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024. To mark the occasion, the museum has created a wonderful exhibition on the history of this station. To round off this anniversary year, the museum unveiled a completely new experience. Ceiling decoration

During the renovation of Maliebaan Station in 2003, the station revealed a wonderful secret. Beautiful murals emerged from beneath the white plaster. This restored some of the antique station hall’s former grandeur. A small glimpse beneath the paint on the ceiling revealed that beautiful decorations had once adorned that surface too. Inspired by a small section of the ceiling painting, Mr.Beam, in collaboration with the museum, has developed an immersive experience that blends history with new technology. Many of the images displayed on the ceiling come from the museum’s digitised photo collection.
