Specifications

The oldest 0-gauge model

In 1859, the German Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Märklin and his wife Caroline founded the Märklin company. Their company was one of the first to focus primarily on toy trains and introduced models at different scales in 1891. This Märklin model of a steam locomotive with box truck and covered carriage was manufactured in 1895, making it the oldest 0-gauge model in the Railway Museum’s collection.
