The first electric trains in the Netherlands were taken into service in 1908. It was not until forty years later, however, that the first electric locomotives were used on the railways. These locomotives from the 1000 series were quickly relegated to use for goods transport only due to their poor driving characteristics. No one knows who built this 1:20 scale model of the 1001.
