The most revolutionary model

The Schienenzeppelin, also known as a rail zeppelin, was designed by the German aircraft engineer Franz Kruckenberg in 1929. This experimental train was propelled by means of a pusher propeller. On 21 June 1931, the rail zeppelin set a new land speed record of 230 kilometres per hour, a moment which symbolised the rapid developments taking place in railway technology. This model of a silver Schienenzeppelin was made by Märklin and is certainly an eye-catching specimen among the other train models.
