H0 models are not only available for purchase in ready-to-use state, but are also sold as building kits that require the buyer to assemble the model themselves. This silver Swiss ‘Krokodil (Crocodile)’, which is compatible with Märklin H0 rails, is an example of such a DIY model. This locomotive, whose type is extremely popular with collectors, was built in Switzerland between 1919 and 1927 and takes its name from the long ‘snout’ at either end.
